PPE

When working on heights, there are specific Personal Protective Equipment tools available to protect the worker against falls from a height (also known as fall protection PPE). In order to ensure protection against falls from heights, there are multiple products or equipment available to avoid the risk of falling.

The correct Personal Protective Equipment as part of a fall arrest system is vital; a personal fall protection system which prevents the user from colliding with the ground, structure, or any other obstacle during a free fall and limits the impact force on the body of the user during fall arrest.

CEB Safety can help provide you with the correct PPE for the task at hand. Our experts will advise about the potential risks and legislation that you need to abide by. We can provide all the following PPE:
Harnesses

Helmets

Lanyards

Temporary anchors

We can also periodically test your PPE to meet the correct legislation.

At CEB Safety we can design, supply, install, and fabricate a wide range of Roof Access Ladders and Walkways to suit your specific site requirements.

You can be sure that your employees and contractors have a safe means of access whilst working at height, whatever the task. We are able to provide Access Ladder and Walkway Solutions to cover most building types. CEB Safety can provide a safe, strong and high-quality system.

In addition to gantries CEB Safety can also provide free standing steps and platforms to enable workers to safely access areas of a roof which are blocked by plant and other permanent materials.

Whatever your access requirements, all of our solutions are compliant with work at height directives and are designed and manufactured to meet BS 4211:2005.

Lifeline Systems

Lifelines are a great solution for visually sensitive buildings that require a Fall Protection system – providing a personal measure of protection where it is not feasible to supply collective edge protection for personnel.

Lifeline systems are designed to be safe and easy to use, operating horizontally, vertically, around corners, and on up-and-down inclines, offering full protection that is compliant with current legislation.

Each safety system is designed to meet specific site requirements, whether directly fixed to a solid structure, or built-up for composite metal decks, single ply membranes, concrete, or lead lined roofs.

Edge Protection

Our guardrail systems which provide permanent edge protection without the need to mechanically fix though the roofing membrane or roof structure.

Where regular access or maintenance is required, CEB Safety can install a modular edge protection system that can be for temporary or permanent use.

The versatility of this system sets it apart, for use on existing building or new builds includes standard vertical, raked, radiused and folding applications. Freestanding edge protection does not require fixing into the roof due to it’s proven cantilevered system using recycled PVC weighted bases and can be used on almost all roof substrates with a pitch of up to 10 degrees.

There is more to planning the correct edge protection system than most people realise, CEB Safety take in to consideration the following codes of practice, to make sure every system is safe;

EN ISO 14122 Part 3
EN 13374 Class A
HSG-33 Health & Safety in Roof Work
HSE INDG 284 “Working on roofs”
BS 6399: Part 2 1995 Wind Code
AS 1657 : 2018
Wind loading in accordance with AS/NZS 1170.2

Single Anchor Points

CEB Safety offers a comprehensive selection of Type A safety anchors designed to offer effective fall arrest protection for those carrying out high level window, façade cleaning or other building maintenance operations from an ‘open window’ position. However, it is important that the correct eyebolt is used to suit the material and the positioning is determined by a competent person, CEB Safety will perform all the necessary checks to make sure the correct anchor and fixing is used for the job.

Eyebolt specification should only be undertaken by a competent person, in order to ensure that the correct eyebolt is used for the given structure. Re-certification of the product must also be carried out in accordance with BS EN 7883 and EN 365.

Davit arm systems provide an effective means of façade access offering safe and secure anchorage for abseiling purposes. A typical system comprises of a permanent base that is fixed to the building structural substrate such as concrete or structural steel. A removable rotating Davit arm is then locked in place before use, enabling abseiling operatives to extend safely over the edge of a roof or parapet.

These systems are ideal for use where non-load bearing parapets preclude the use of standard anchor posts, and where obstructions such as overhangs, cornices, glass or architectural details are present.
